Milpitas Police Officers' Association

Board of Directors

The Milpitas Police Officers' Association is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of a President, Vice President, Financial Officer, Secretary, and seven Board Members. The Board is elected by its members every two years.

The Board Members serve the Association by conducting contract negotiations, scheduling of Association sponsored events, maintaining and improving department morale. The Board Members act as liaisons between the Officers and the Command Staff when dealing with personnel issues.

During contract negotiations, the Board Members complete research and present the member's positions on topics such as benefits, work schedules, and salaries to the city manager.

President - Brian Thanh (01/2026 - 12/2027)

Brian started as a Police Explorer in the Milpitas Police Department in 2008. He was hired as Police Officer by the Milpitas Police Department in January 2013. He has held ancillary duties such as Firearms Instructor, Mobile Field Force, Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) team, and a Field Training Officer. He previously held positions as a member on the Crime Reduction Team and as a Detective. 

In 2025, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant where he was assigned to patrol services. In 2026, he was assigned to the Traffic Safety Unit as a Sergeant. Brian has served on the Milpitas Police Officer Association board since 2018.

Vice President - Eric Bernardo (01/2025-12/2026)

Eric Bernardo has been a Police Officer for the Milpitas Police Department for over nine years. Eric has been a Field Training Officer for the Milpitas Police Department as well as with Emergency Services for over 15 years. Eric embraces the team oriented mindset and enjoys having the opportunity to represent members and assist with strengthening working relationships in a professional manner. During Eric's free time, he enjoys both playing and coaching team sports.

Treasurer - Lesly Sauceda (01/2026-12/2027)

Lesly has been a Police Officer with Milpitas Police Department for 4 years, and enjoys keeping the Milpitas community safe. Lesly is also a part of several other teams at the Police Department. In her free time she enjoys working out and outdoor activities.

Secretary - Amanda Gomez (01/2025-12/2026)

Amanda has been a member of the Milpitas Police Department since 2011.

Amanda is a Police Evidence Technician and was named the 2014 Support Person of the Year . Amanda is also a member of the California Association for Property and Evidence. Amanda enjoys being involved in MPOA functions.

Board Member - Kevin Jackson (01/2025-12/2026)

Kevin was hired as a Patrol Officer by the Milpitas Police Department in July, 2005 and was later promoted to Police Officer in January, 2006. He has served as a D.A.R.E. Instructor with the Police Community Relations Unit and as a DUI Enforcement Officer with the Traffic Safety Unit. Kevin is a Field Evidence Technician with an expertise in Arson Investigations, a member of the department’s Mobile Field Force (Riot Team), a Peer Support Team member, a Bicycle Enforcement Team member, a Field Training Officer, and a member of the department’s Honor Guard.

Kevin was named the 2013 Milpitas Police Department Employee of the Year. He received the State of California MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) Hero Award in 2012 and 2013, the Santa Clara County MADD Award in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and had the most DUI arrests for the Milpitas Police Department in 2011 and 2012. Kevin was one of the first police officers in the United States to become a Certified Evidence Collection Technician specific to fire scenes through the International Association of Arson Investigators.

Kevin graduated from San Jose State University with a Masters Degree in Justice Studies. He also graduated Magna Cum Laude from San Jose State University with a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice Administration and a minor in Communication Studies. Kevin teaches Crime Scene Investigations at the annual Santa Clara County Police Explorer Academy. He also teachers Crime Scene Investigations at Fire Scenes to law enforcement officers, fire personnel, and district attorneys throughout the State of California.

Board Member - Clint Jackman (01/2025-12/2026)

Clint believes Milpitas represents everything great about the Bay Area. He loves working for the Milpitas Police Department because of the great support by the community and the many opportunities available for its employees. He currently serves as a Sergeant assigned to Field Services, and in his free time loves spending time with his wife, son, and goldendoodle. Clint also enjoys reading, creating writing, and watching the Sharks, Giants, and Forty-Niners.

Board Member - Viviann Nguyen (01/2026-12/2027)

Viv joined the department in 2023 after working at another local agency for seven years. Viv is a member of the department UAS team and a Field Training Officer. On her free time, she enjoys going to the movie theatre, exploring the Bay Area for new restaurants, and hanging out with her two dogs and a cat.

Board Member - Thi Van (01/2026-12/2027)

Thi joined the department in 2018 and is currently working on Patrol. Thi is also a First Aid Instructor, Firearms Instructor, and a member of the UAS team. On his time off, Thi enjoys spending time with my family or paddling around in the ocean in Santa Cruz.

Board Member - Mayra Zuniga (01/2026-12/2027)

Mayra joined the department in 2016 and serves in the Records Unit as a Records Clerk. Mayra is a Milpitas native and enjoys being involved in MPOA functions. Mayra has also been involved with Milpitas PAL Soccer and PAL Softball for many years.

Board Member - Peter Tachis (01/2026-12/2027)

Peter was hired by the department in 2011, and he was promoted to sergeant in 2020. Peter is a member of the SWAT team, Firearms Instructor, First Aid Instructor, Armory, and Honor Guard. In his off time, Peter enjoys working on his classic mustang, offroading, and spending time with his family outdoors

Board Member - Daniel Sevilla (01/2026-12/2027)

Daniel was hired as a Police Officer by the Milpitas Police Department in 2015 and is currently assigned to patrol services. Daniel is currently an Arrest Control Instructor and a member of the Polygraph Unit.
